BBC’s England vs DR Congo coverage cuts out | Football | Sport
Viewers watching England’s game vs DR Congo faced a disruption, with fans taking to social media to complain. The Three Lions found themselves 1-0 down and were looking for an equalising goal.
But as England closed down on the DR Congo goal in the second half, the BBC screen went blank for around five to ten seconds. In that time, England had a shot on goal, which was saved by goalkeeper Lionel Mpase.
Supporters watching the game on TV quickly took to social media. “I’d turn it off as well @BBC,” one joked.
A second asked: “BBC what was that????” A third said: “Did everyone miss that England chance on BBC or was my TV just bugging,” and a fourth wrote: “And the feeds gone nice one BBC.”
“Probably for the best BBC has cut out,” while a sixth said: “Hello bbc??” A seventh wondered: “Imagine BBC missed a goal there lmao,” while an eighth went on: “Didn’t even see that chance cheers BBC,” with a sarcastic thumbs up emoji.
England trailed the game thanks to Brian Cipenga’s seventh-minute opening goal. The goal led to shows of frustration from Jude Bellingham.
They had a first-half shout for a penalty waved away by the referee and also saw chances from Bellingham saved by Mpase. But, in the 75th minute, Harry Kane scored a header to draw Thomas Tuchel’s side level.
The winners of the game take on co-hosts Mexico at the Azteca Stadium in the early hours of Sunday morning (1am kick-off).
