EDF giving away free electricity on Saturday if you complete 1 task | Personal Finance | Finance
EDF customers could get two hours of free electricity this Saturday if they complete one important step before the deadline. The energy supplier is offering eligible households free electricity during England’s FIFA World Cup quarter-final against Norway on Saturday, July 11, helping Brits power their homes without paying for electricity during the match. EDF‘s research found that 73% of people expect football matches to increase electricity use at home.
Whether customers are hosting friends, powering multiple screens, catching up on household chores, or simply relaxing while the football is on, the free electricity can be used however they choose. Customers have until 11.59pm on Friday to sign up for the offer.
Over 100k customers are already signed up to benefit, but customers can still sign up until midnight on Friday. Eligible EDF customers must register through the Energy Hub in their EDF MyAccount before the deadline.
Existing EDF customers need to sign up before the deadline and registration must be completed through the Energy Events section in Energy Hub within MyAccount. The offer is not available through the EDF app.
Those who have not yet set up Energy Hub can register in just a few minutes, but they will need to have a working smart meter to take part.
Customers will automatically receive free electricity during all remaining matches played by England or Scotland in the tournament, as long as they continue to meet the eligibility requirements.
Once signed up, EDF customers will receive two hours of free electricity from the 10pm kick-off on Saturday. If England’s quarter-final goes to extra time, the free period will automatically be extended to three hours.
