A woman was allegedly abducted from a bus stop before being gang raped in a secluded building. Police have arrested two men following the reported attack on Monday (July 6) with a further investigation underway. The victim, 43, was reportedly hoping to take part in a TV show to discuss the issues she was having with her husband and in-laws.
After catching a train on Monday, she arrived at a bus stop where she was approached by an unknown man. He asked where she was going before claiming he knew someone involved in the show. The man allegedly insisted he could arrange an interview and take her to the office before taking her to his home. He then reportedly raped her before a second man arrived and also attacked the victim.
As reported by The New Indian Express, the alleged sexual attack took place in the city of Hyderabad in the state of Telangana. The woman managed to escape the secluded building before reporting what had happened to local police.
Local media said the woman screamed for help following the attack before the suspects fled on a bike. She managed to reach the local police station where she reported being raped.
It’s alleged she was raped by two men who have since been arrested by officers. The victim filed a statement with detectives and the suspects have been remanded in custody ahead of a later court appearance.
Local police are continuing to investigate the alleged gang rape. They are examining evidence from the day of the attack and are appealing to the public for relevant information.
The investigation is being led by Inspector Ravi Kumar who confirmed a detailed investigation is underway. He is set to reveal further details soon.
