• Courtois exits in tears: Thibaut Courtois departed the pitch in tears after being forced off during Belgium’s World Cup quarter-final encounter with Spain. The match stood at 1-1 when substitute goalkeeper, Senne Lammens, fumbled a long-distance effort into the path of Mikel Merino, who netted the decisive goal off the bench to secure their progression to a semi-final meeting with France.
• England supporters descend on Miami: England fans were on top form at the Cleveland Guardians versus Miami Marlins baseball gam on Friday following their arrival in Florida before Saturday’s tie against Norway. • Tuchel told to email FIFA for red card explanation: Thomas Tuchel acknowledged during his pre-match press conference that England have received “no explanation” from FIFA regarding the two-match ban Jarell Quansah will serve for his red card against Mexico.
