Lord of the Rings new movie Hunt for Gollum first look teaser footage | Films | Entertainment

The latest film based on JRR Tolkien‘s Middle-earth has just started production back in New Zealand, where both movie trilogies were shot. The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum takes place during the time jump early on in The Fellowship of the Ring, when Gandalf has Strider (aka Aragorn) seek out Sméagol as the former ring-bearer. Told from Gollum’s perspective, the movie will also have scenes after The Hobbit and before The Fellowship of the Ring. And now the first look teaser has been released by Warner Bros.

Returning to their roles alongside Serkis’ Gollum are Sir Ian McKellen as Gandalf the Grey, Elijah Wood as Frodo Baggins and Lee Pace as Thranduil. Meanwhile, Jamie Dornan takes over the role of a younger Striker from Viggo Mortensen. And joining the cast are Kate Winslet as Marigol, Leo Woodall as Halvard and Anya Taylor-Joy as Seren.

The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum hits cinemas on December 17, 2027.
