‘Flattering’ Sainsbury’s dress with Princess Kate-inspired look is now under £12

Sainsbury’s shoppers are rushing to snap up a vintage-inspired tea dress that’s perfect for summer. Available in pink and blue, the affordable piece is proving popular thanks to its classic design. A tea dress features a fitted bodice, a defined waist, and a gently flared skirt.
Originally popularised in the 1940s, it remains a wardrobe staple thanks to its flattering, comfortable fit. According to Who What Wear, a colourful and modest tea dress is a popular style choice for Princess Catherine. In June, the princess was seen wearing a strawberry-red Rodarte tea dress decorated with mini white hearts at the Cancer Research UK reception.
While the princess’ dress comes with a hefty price tag, the Sainsbury’s dress costs less than £12. At the time of writing, this dress has been ordered more than 100 times in the last 48 hours, making it one of the supermarket’s standout fashion buys.
Speaking about the tea dress, Sainsbury’s said: “From our latest summer edit, our pink tea dress comes in a classic striped print and in a flattering mini length. Complete the summery look by pairing it with mule sandals.”
The pink is the bestseller of the two, with only a size six available for £11.25; however, there may be more in stores. The blue dress (at the same price) is available in sizes 6, 8, 10, 16, 18, 20, 22, and 24.
With an impressive four stars out of five on the website, customers reportedly love the length, design, and material. One customer shared: “Really lovely dress, great length for short women! Got in pink also!
“Fit is flattering and has pockets. Only just one negative it requires ironing after washing.”

Another added: “Lovely length for petite frame. As others said, small across the bust, so size up.” A third commented: “Lovely dress, but unfortunately too small around the chest.
“Nice colour and style, but for me, being plus size with a larger chest, not great shame.” Someone else said: “I bought this in the blue as I previously bought the dress in pink. So pleased with fit material and comfort.”
Both colours of this dress can be paired with Sainsbury’s Cream Woven Slip On Mule Sandals for £20. The description reads: “A chic summer essential for your wardrobe, these cream mule sandals feature a woven design.
“In a slip-on style, they’re perfect for casual days!” All sizes are available, including 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8.
