Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey fans mock ‘post-credits scene’ | Films | Entertainment
The Odyssey may have only just arrived in cinemas, but fans are already clamouring to know everything about the movie – including whether there’s some form of post-credits scene, which has become commonplace thanks to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Just like Christopher Nolan’s other projects, there’s no post, mid or end credits scene – and it should come as no surprise, given none of his other films features any such scene either.
Additionally, apart from the Dark Knight trilogy, the British and American filmmaker isn’t in the habit of including such scenes or sequels in his work. Many film fans took to social media to poke fun at The Odyssey post-credits scene, or rather, the lack of one on X (formerly Twitter). One person joked: “Make sure you stay for the post-credits scene of The Odyssey.” They included a series of out-of-context images not from The Odyssey, reports the Mirror.
Another wrote: “The end credits scene at the end of “The Odyssey” was a total shocker!”
They included a mocked-up end credits title card that read: “Odysseus Will Return In Avengers: Doomsday.”
While a third joked: “Crazy that they showed this after the end credits of The Odyssey.”
They shared two pictures purporting to be from the screening that read: “Athena and Atinous will return in Dune 3” and Athena and Telemachus will return in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Yet a fourth person wrote: “Wait… did that ending just tease Christopher Nolan showing up for Avengers: Doomsday?
The post-credits scene had us doing a double take. Obviously we’re joking… but imagine if Marvel actually pulled that off. What did you think ?”
They include a video that featured the title card: “Christopher Will Return in Avengers: Doomsday” and was captioned: “I was not expecting The Odyssey post credits scene.”
Although The Odyssey doesn’t feature an end credits scene, Nolan does have a first in the movie: after the song he co-wrote with musician James Blake, rapper Travis Scott, and composer Ludwig Göransson can be heard as the credits roll.
The track titled When I’m Home is performed by Blake, Göransson, with rapping from Scott, who not only plays Bard in The Odyssey but also previously worked on the soundtrack for Nolan’s Tenet.
The Odyssey is screening in cinemas now
