Jarrod Bowen to Man Utd transfer update as contract agreement reached | Football | Sport

Jarrod Bowen has made a decision on his immediate future, amid interest from Premier League clubs in returning to the top flight. The English winger was unable to stop West Ham from being relegated and faces at least one season in the Championship, despite being considered one of the top forwards in the country.

Manchester United have been one of the most prominent names linked with Bowen, who many thought could be available for a bargain price following West Ham’s relegation. However, they have already banked £85million from the sale of Mateus Fernandes to Tottenham and are keeping their most prized asset in Bowen. The club today released a video featuring the captain, confirming his desire to stay and help achieve promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

“For me, it was only right to speak when the time’s right in circumstances like this, then it’s back to talking about football,” Bowen said.

“I flew out to Prague in the Czech Republic to meet Daniel [Kretinsky] and Jiri [Svarc] and the ambition that I got from them, certainly in terms of the direction the Club wants to move in, it interests me a lot. It didn’t take a lot for me, because this Club means a lot to me.

“I did an interview after the [Leeds United] game and said my vision is to get this Club back in the Premier League. Sometimes you think it falls on deaf ears and people say ‘he’s just saying that’. There have been things written and different things said and you have to look at it and bite your tongue sometimes.

“But when I say something, I don’t hide away from it. For me, the main thing is to get this club back into the Premier League and speak to people in the club about what we want to do moving forward as a club for the better of the club.

“It was a no-brainer for me to be here and the vision is clear, it’s the Premier League.”

Bowen’s comments arrive alongside a report from The Athletic suggesting that the 29-year-old has committed his future to West Ham by signing revised terms.

The report states that while Bowen’s new agreement does not extend beyond the existing 2030 end date, the new contract ensures the forward will remain at the London Stadium this summer.

Consequently, a summer switch to Manchester has been ruled out, and it remains to be seen how the Reds will proceed with their transfer business for the remainder of the window.

The Red Devils may still complete the signing of another West Ham winger this summer, having monitored Dutch international Crysencio Summerville, who has now returned from the World Cup.

Roma are among the clubs chasing the former Leeds forward.

United have brought in three players thus far this summer, two of whom are midfielders, with Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and goalkeeper Karl Darlow all arriving at Old Trafford.
