Without a doubt, Princess Kate is a fashion icon whose timeless style continues to inspire royal fans and shoppers around the world. As the hot weather continues, Brits are looking to the royal for summer fashion inspiration, with her elegant white trousers proving to be a standout look that’s more comfortable and breathable than jeans or shorts.
According to Woman and Home, the Princess of Wales wore these trousers in Belize during her and Prince William’s Caribbean visit in 2022, paired with a blood-orange-toned jacket. They noted: “Like a lot of Kate’s iconic items, the trousers were by British clothing brand, Alexander McQueen, and they were high-waisted and wide-leg.
“The future Queen loves skinny jeans, but when it comes to tailored trousers, she reaches for wide-leg and flared-leg styles the most.”
According to the Alexander McQueen website, their Women’s Narrow Bootcut Trousers in Light Ivory cost £790; however, we have found an alternative on ASOS for just £29.99.
The Stradivarius trousers feature a straight, wide leg in a regular fit. The linen trousers also have belt loops for the additional brown belt included with the purchase.
According to the product description: “Barcelona-born clothing brand Stradivarius moves to its own beat. With an eye for minimalism and trend-led detail, expect classic silhouettes and a neutral colour palette (with the odd print thrown in for good measure).”
The Princess Kate-inspired trousers also come in brown, purple, black, pale yellow, and beige. Sizes range from a UK 4 to 16.

The white trousers are currently selling out fast on ASOS. One happy customer shared:” Lovely trousers, not too see-through, but you should stick to nude pants just in case. The belt is very nice.”
However, another customer commented: “Washed once as instructed, and they have come away at the seam.” According to ASOS, these trousers can be machine-washed, but shoppers must pay extra attention to the instructions on the care label.
These trousers will be paired nicely with a blood orange top, as inspired by the Princess’ blazer. ASOS is selling the Topshop asymmetric twist detail top in orange for £20, down from £25.
For a more neutral look, this New Look white boat-neck button-through tank top for £12 is perfect for summer. If you’re looking for an alternative to white trousers, Marks & Spencer is selling a pair for £40.
These Patch Pocket Straight Leg Trousers are detailed as: “Crafted from soft cotton-rich corduroy for a stylish textured look. This design features a comfy straight-leg shape and a neat button-and-zip fastening. Patch-front pockets add to their casual appeal.”
Nobody’s Child is also offering White Pleated Wide Leg Trousers for £35, but sizes are selling out fast; find out more here.
