Fury as Donald Trump posts AI-generated image of himself as Elvis | World | News
Donald Trump has angered Elvis Presley fans after posting an AI-generated image of himself as the King of Rock n’ Roll. Scores of posts appeared on the President of the United States‘ Truth Social account at the weekend.
Many of the posts were images made using artificial intelligence, but one in which Mr Trump presented himself in the guise of Elvis sparked criticism. The President can be seen wearing a white, rhinestone-studded jumpsuit with a raised collar standing on stage in front of a microphone. His post sparked angry responses on social media, including from an X-user who wrote on the platform that the post “may be offensive to millions of Elvis fans”. The same X-user said the post was also “highly embarrassing”.
Another X-user posted: “The vast majority of people would see this post from Trump as Elvis as totally unhinged. In the warped, brainwashed minds of MAGA cult members it’s a ‘gem'”.
A third X-user said Mr Trump as Elvis “is an insult to all who loved Elvis”.
Another said: “Trump keeps posting that America was once the laughing-stock of the world, but now that he is president, it’s never been more respected. As an Aussie, I can 100% confirm that Donald Trump is a laughing-stock here”.
In another attack, an X-user wrote: “Unlike Trump, Elvis actually served our nation with honour, distinction, and rock and roll”.
Another X-user wrote: “It’s way beyond cognitive tests. We’re in serious trouble with this guy in charge. There’s a war going on and he’s posting himself as Elvis.
“How the hell long do we sit back and allow this to happen to us? Has everyone lost their minds?”.
Mr Trump’s supporters reacted to the President’s post with images of their own, including one showing him alongside Elvis on stage performing under the words “Make America Great Again!”.
Another Truth Social user simply wrote: “Love Elvis and love our President!”.
It was not the first time Mr Trump compared himself the music legend. The US leader said previously that he was bigger than Elvis in an offer to perform at the Freedom 250 concert at the Great American State Fair.
He said at the time: “I am thinking about bringing the Number One Attraction anywhere in the World, the man who gets much larger audiences than Elvis in his prime, and he does so without a guitar, the man who loves our Country more than anyone else, and the man who some say is the Greatest President in History (THE GOAT!), DONALD J. TRUMP, to take the place of these highly paid, Third Rate ‘Artists,’ and give a major speech, rallying the Country forward like I have done ever since being President!”.
In April, Mr Trump removed an AI-generated image in which he appeared to depict himself as Jesus Christ after devout Christians accused him of blasphemy.
He later explained that the image showed him as a doctor “making people better” and that is what he does.
