Four years after his move from Brighton & Hove Albion, the club have reportedly informed him he is free to depart the club. He endured an injury-ravaged campaign last year which forced the club to cut short loan spells with both West Bromwich Albion and Hull City. After being left out of Michael Carrick’s squad that faced Atletico Madrid in pre-season, Collyer now looks set to exit the club. He is not the only prospect who may be shown the door.

According to The Sun, Collyer has been told he can depart, and there’s a growing feeling his colleagues Dan Gore, Jacob Devaney and Chido Obi may also leave.

All four players featured for the United U21s recent 1-0 loss to Altrincham Town. The aforementioned trio, not including Collyer, recently appeared for the Reds in friendly clashes against Wrexham and Rosenborg.

Gore was loaned to Rotherham last season, where he contributed three assists in 34 League One appearances while Devaney appeared for Scottish Premiership side St Mirren from last January onwards. In Scotland, he contributed one goal and one assist in 18 appearances.

Meanwhile, Obi did not make one senior appearance for the Reds last season. He only made the bench for one Premier League clash, the 1-1 home draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

It’s growing increasingly likely all four players will be playing for a new team this summer. For Collyer, he is in desperate need of momentum after his frustrating campaign last year.

During his time at Old Trafford, he has managed just 13 senior appearances for the club, ten of which came under Ruben Amorim. His stints at West Brom and Hull were both disrupted by injury.

United have strengthened their midfield with Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos, while it’s understood academy graduate Tyler Fletcher is ahead of Collyer in the pecking order – United are also expected to bring in a third central midfielder before the end of the transfer window.
