Giving your walls a lick of paint or re-wallpapering can be an easy way to refresh your home. But, while it may not be the most costly thing in the world, it is extremely time-consuming, and can take several days of hard graft to get to where you want to be.
That’s why, when one woman wanted to enhance the decor in her kitchen, she chose a quick and easy upgrade, which she said was the “prettiest” and easiest thing she could’ve done, and it cost her less than £20 in total, so it’s accessible.
Meg Garrod confessed that she’d had a gorgeous lilac stable door in her kitchen for four years, and had long been eager to enhance it further. So when she discovered a way to do so without spending a fortune or dedicating countless hours to the task, she was absolutely delighted.
Meg, who regularly showcases her “pastel colourful home” and “dopamine decor,” gave her followers an extra treat when she adorned her back door with breathtaking floral designs.
On her account, @dreamydormer, she revealed that she “couldn’t resist” giving her back door “one more whimsical upgrade,” despite it already looking rather magical.
“Somehow I’ve made it even prettier by adding this floral window film that creates a rainbow light around my whole kitchen,” Meg gushed.
She explained that she anticipated the project would take her “ages,” yet she only “needed 15 minutes, a spray bottle of water, and a dream”.
Meg admitted she didn’t know how she “hadn’t thought of this sooner,” given how spectacular it looked, while also serving a practical purpose.
“This room gets so hot from the sun in the afternoon, so this helps to block a little bit of that heat and creates those beautiful rainbows,” she shared.
Meg never imagined she could love her lilac door any more than she already did, but “for under £20, this is the prettiest upgrade”. A variety of flower styles were also on offer, all of which she shared via Amazon.
Starting from just £11.99, you can give your own kitchen door a fresh new look. She captioned a photo of her door with the words: “Window film, because yes, even your windows can be colourful and bring you joy!”.
“Upgrade your home decor, create the visual effect of stained glass, and add more beauty to the window and glass doors,” the Amazon website reads.
How to install the window film correctly:
1. Make sure that the windows are completely clean.
2. Measure and cut the film to the size that you actually need to cover the windows in question.
3. Remove the backing film from the colourful side.
4. Spray lots of water onto the window.
5. Stick the colourful part of the film to the window.
6. Remove the excess water and air from top to bottom with a scraper, or the window film will likely fall off and leave you at square one.
7. Dry the window and enjoy the fruits of your labour!
