Horror as woman gang-raped after missing bus | World | News


A woman was allegedly gang-raped after she had missed the bus that she was waiting for. The victim had accused four men of committing the horrific crime, with the group currently being held in custody following their arrest on Tuesday. According to police, the victim had gone to a relative’s house, and when she was making her way home, she had missed her bus, and whilst waiting for another to come, the four men allegedly found her alone and sexually assaulted her.

Police launched an investigation after receiving a report from Chhattisgarh state, India. The men were identified and arrested. A case was then registered against them under the provisions of law.

Surajpur Additional Supt of Police Yogesh Kumar Devangan said: “Immediate action was taken on the basis of the victim’s complaint and the evidence available. All four accused had been arrested and sent to jail under judicial remand.”

The officer explained that the woman managed to escape and reach her home in the Korea district, where she approached the police and issued a complaint, ETV Bharat reports.

He added: “Since the alleged incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Chandni police station in Surajpur district, the case was subsequently taken up by Chandni police.”

Further investigation is under way.
