Powerball jackpot nears $1 billion mark after no winners of $905 million grand prize

There were no winning tickets sold for Monday night’s $905 million Powerball jackpot so the estimated grand prize for Wednesday night’s drawing will be at least $975 million, Powerball says. The estimated cash value would be at least $422.3 million. Jackpots tend to grow as more and more tickets are sold.

Monday’s winning numbers were 6, 37, 54, 55, 64 and a Powerball of 10.

The estimated cash value would come into play if the holder of a winning ticket chooses a lump-sum payment rather than 30 annuity payments spanning 29 years, according to the Multi-State Lottery Association. Both options are before taxes.

Should Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot hit $1 billion, it would be the 15th time that level was reached in U.S. lottery history and the eighth time for Powerball.

The largest Powerball jackpot — and largest lottery jackpot ever — was won with a single $2.04 billion ticket sold in California in November 2022.   

Powerball tickets cost $2 and were sold in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands until last month, when tickets went on sale in the U.K. However, tickets bought there only count toward the Powerball jackpot, and the lower-tier prizes are structured differently.

The odds of winning the Powerball grand prize are 1 in 292,201,338.
