Adam Peaty’s family member ‘fuming’ over Holly Ramsay wedding today | Other | Sport

Adam Peaty’s father is reportedly “so hurt” and “fuming” after he was allegedly told he could attend the service for his son’s wedding with Holly Ramsay, but not the reception. The Olympic swimmer and daughter of Gordon Ramsay are set to tie the knot at Bath Abbey on Saturday.

Whilst Holly’s extended family are expected to be present at the event, it seems that the Peaty family will be underrepresented at the wedding. Although Peaty’s sister, Bethany, is due to be a bridesmaid for Holly, his mother, Caroline, and his father, Mark, will not be among the attendees.

Speaking to the Daily Mail about the wedding, Caroline expressed her deep hurt over how she has been treated by her son and his soon-to-be wife. She said: “I don’t think they understand how much they have hurt me; it’s as if they have cut my heart out.

“This is the first Christmas that I’ve not had my family together – my family is broken. Yes, I have my other grandchildren. Yes, I have my other children, but my family is split because of the goings on…because of the wedding.”

Elsewhere, she revealed that Adam’s father is also furious about how things have unfolded, claiming that he will reject his invitation to the ceremony. She added: “Mark’s fuming. He is so hurt,” before continuing: “Mark has said that he doesn’t want me crying all day.”

The icy rift between Peaty and his family reportedly began at his engagement party last year. The couple announced their engagement in September, hosting a celebration shortly after, which several of Adam’s family members did not attend.

The Sun claimed that Adam’s family were at the engagement party when relations were much better. However, things deteriorated from there.

“His mum was unhappy some of the family weren’t there and confronted Gordon at the event,” a source said. “Guests were made to sign non-disclosure agreements and hand in phones as the party was filmed.”

Peaty subsequently released a statement about the feud last month, stating: “For those who know me personally, you know that I work so hard on trying to improve myself as a person who wants to contribute to making the world a better place.

“I am continuing to learn about myself and how I can be the man I want to be; a worthy partner, father, businessman, friend and athlete; even through these challenging times. Bethany, Holly and I will get through this – we do not ask for sympathy.

“We just need people to be aware that there are always two sides to every story. To those of you who have reached out and shown kindness and understanding – thank you. It is deeply appreciated.”

In a gesture of support, Holly also posted the message to her 400,000 social media followers. The row had intensified that same month when Peaty’s aunt, Louise Williams, took aim at Holly for not including Adam’s mother on her hen party guest list.

Following the controversy, Caroline opened up about her difficulties. In a heartfelt message to her son, she expressed: “I know it’s the end. But please, the message I want Adam to hear is no matter what happens in the future, please know I love you, your dad loves you, you can come home and talk to me at any point.

“There’s nothing you’ve done that I would not forgive. I love you so much. I hope your marriage is a good one, I don’t wish any ill on you and I want you and Holly to have a long and happy marriage. The reason I’m speaking out is I want all this to end.”

Caroline also described the Ramsay family as quite “insular,” adding: “He’s in Gordon’s clutches. I can’t help but feel like they are pulling him away from me.”
