Add ingredient to Brussels sprouts to make them irresistible


All sorts of lovely food is munched on over the festive season, but brussels sprouts also crop up on menus a lot more too.

The humble greens often leave Brits torn, as you either love them or hate them. But one chef has said topping them with a simple ingredient will make anyone fall in love with the Christmas vegetable.

Kelly Scott, known as kellyscleankitchen on TikTok, often shares her recipes online, and she recently revealed how to make delicious Parmesan smashed Brussels sprouts.

In her experience, people often complain about them as they never taste as good at home compared to when they’re served up in restaurants. But this is something that can easily be fixed.

Kelly said the recipe is good enough to “rival” some of your favourite restaurant dishes, so it’s worth giving a whirl. You don’t need many ingredients to whip up the dish either.

All you have to do is cut off the ends and then steam the sprouts for eight to 10 minutes until they are “fork tender”. She said this can also be done in the microwave to save some time.

Then dry them with some paper towel. This is an “essential” step, as it helps them to crisp up in the oven.

From here, Kelly said you need to use a kitchen appliance to crush them before coating them in olive oil, salt, pepper, the juice of one lemon and 1/3 cup of Parmesan. Evenly coat them before laying them flat on a lined baking tray.

Ensure there’s plenty of space between them before you roast, and cook them for around 20 minutes. Then, flip them over, and cook for a further 15 minutes.

This will leave you with super crunchy veggies that are “restaurant quality” every time. That’s all it takes to whip up the tasty veggies.

Since the video was shared, it’s been liked more than 1,600 times – and people were quick to comment too. Many seemed keen to give the recipe a whirl.
