Amazon’s £13 slippers look so much like Uggs

Uggs have had a bit of a resurgence over the last couple of years, and right now the Tasman slip-ons seem to be everywhere. Versatile enough to wear as slippers or quickly pop on for a run to the shops, they’re a great everyday shoe for keeping feet toasty through winter. That said, they do come with a price tag not everyone wants to commit to – they’re currently £115 on Ugg’s own website and at Schuh.

However, we’ve spotted an aesthetically similar pair on Amazon for a mere slice of the price – and they’re on sale. The Sole London slippers from Amazon are just £12.74, making them more than £100 cheaper than their high-end counterparts. They usually retail for around £15 on Amazon, but are currently discounted, with prices as low as £11 in some shades. There are over 10 colours to choose from, and sizes range from three to eight. 

Amazon shoppers have already compared the shoes to Uggs, with one person describing them as “Ugg lookalikes”, and another adding: “I just couldn’t bring myself to part with £100 for the similar Ugg style and decided to give these a try at a fraction of the price, I was not disappointed! I’m really impressed with them. They are cosy, comfy, and feel well-made.”

The trendy design is very close to the Tasman, with a thick elevated sole, curved front and embroidered trim. The footbed is described as being designed for comfort and has a border that holds the slip-on in place, ensuring it remains secure. The shoes are also lined with faux fur for extra warmth. 

The brand claims that they can be worn both indoors and outdoors, as the sole is thick and durable enough for light terrain. According to one shopper, they’re “great for nipping to shop without having to change shoes.”

Others praised the quality and value for money, with one review saying they were “so comfortable and look and feel top quality – amazing for the price.”

Another review said: “I got these to replace a more expensive brand that I usually buy. They’re very comfortable, they clean well (I spilt a load of Marmite on them and it wiped off easily), they’re warm. So far, they seem to be holding up to several hours of daily wear. All my flooring downstairs is hard flooring or tiles, so I wear them all the time.”

However, some shoppers found the slippers did not meet their expectations, with one saying: “Not designed for outdoors. A small walk has totally destroyed the sole.”

Another complained the slippers can be too hot, saying: “I bought these exactly a year ago, and in terms of quality, they are still perfect. The only thing that lets them down is how sweaty they make my feet.”

One thing to note is that, unlike the Ugg slip-ons, which are made with real suede and lined with sheepskin, these ones are made from synthetic suede and lined with faux fur; however, some shoppers say this doesn’t impact the quality. 

One said: “The mock suede leather upper is very realistic and the stitching around the opening of the slippers complements their style and design.”
