Ange Postecoglou rates Tottenham’s chances of Conor Gallagher transfer before deadline | Football | Sport

Ange Postecoglou has revealed that he believes it is ‘unlikely’ that Tottenham will make any further signings this month. Spurs have been heavily linked with Chelsea playmaker Conor Gallagher this week, though there does not appear to be confidence that an agreement can be reached with their London rivals.

Tottenham have been one of the busiest Premier League clubs in the transfer window this month, with Postecoglou being rewarded for guiding his side to such a strong start to the campaign.

The Londoners bolstered their attacking ranks by hijacking Manchester United’s interest in Timo Werner. The ex-Chelsea forward opted to head to north London on a loan-to-buy deal, with Spurs keen to help the Germany international get his career back on track and prove himself in England.

Postecoglou then addressed his lack of defensive depth by acquiring the services of Radu Dragusin from Genoa, managing to fend off the efforts of Bayern Munich to strike a deal worth £25million for the Romania international. Eric Dier joined Bayern instead.

Reports have suggested that Spurs’ spending spree is showing no signs of slowing down during the final days of the transfer window, with it being claimed that the higher powers at Tottenham were considering reigniting their interest in Chelsea midfielder Gallagher.

However, Postecoglou appeared to play down his chances of landing the England international, or any other reinforcements, when speaking ahead of his side’s match against Brentford on Wednesday night.

Asked whether he was expecting any further incomings or outgoings, the Aussie replied: “Unlikely I’d say. I don’t see any incoming. Outgoings are a little bit different because I’m not as engaged on that. Others are dealing with that but I’d say also unlikely.”

Several stars have been linked with a move away from Tottenham this month, with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg among those. However, the Denmark international has reportedly declared that he wants to remain at the club and fight for his spot in Postecoglou’s starting XI, following approaches from Ajax and Lyon.

Bryan Gil has also been tipped to depart, with The Times reporting that negotiations are ongoing between Tottenham and Brighton over a loan deal. The Spaniard has only featured on nine occasions in the Premier League so far this season, starting just two matches, and the arrival of Werner is expected to push the ex-Sevilla further down the pecking order at the club.
