Arsenal ready to break bank for Bukayo Saka with Gunners pushing hard | Football | Sport

Arsenal are preparing to elevate Bukayo Saka into the top wage bracket as they intensify efforts to secure him on a new contract. The Gunners recently confirmed a fresh five-year agreement with William Saliba, who has pledged his future to the Emirates until 2030. They are now pushing ahead with talks to ensure Saka’s long-term commitment, and indications suggest a deal could be reached in the forthcoming weeks.

Saka, 24, is nearing the end of his current contract but has publicly expressed his desire to remain at Arsenal and pursue trophy success. The club remains optimistic about reaching an agreement and, while nothing is imminent, discussions are believed to have left both parties confident that a deal can be finalised. This would position him amongst Arsenal‘s highest earners and one of the Premier League’s standout stars.

Gunners manager Mikel Arteta emphasised last week that, following Saliba’s contract renewal, their focus has shifted to securing Saka’s future.

Saka recognises his standing as one of the leading forwards of his generation for both club and country, which allows him to demand not only one of the top contracts at Arsenal but also within English football, according to The Mirror.

The England star holds significant sway at Arsenal, is extremely popular, possesses a high market value and is a considerable commercial attraction.

Saliba’s contract, believed to be worth around £250,000 per week, was designed to ward off interest from major European clubs such as Real Madrid.

Saka would also have no shortage of suitors, and Arsenal are currently undertaking a significant review of contracts for key players.

Arsenal‘s new sporting director, Andrea Berta, had a busy transfer window, having spent over £300million in the summer. However, Berta has emphasised that securing contracts and retaining key players is crucial for the club.

They have reached agreements with Gabriel, Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly in recent months, and securing Saka would be another move that would greatly please the fans and provide a significant boost to the season.

Speaking about his future last season, Saka said: “For me, I want to win and I want to win wearing this badge. I think it is pretty clear. The fans know how much I love them.

“I think they love me back so it is a good relationship. I am really happy to be here and I’m just focused on winning.

“I don’t think anyone is really in a rush. I have got two years left on my contract so it is pretty relaxed. Everyone knows my thoughts and I’ve let you guys know as well so I don’t think there’s any rush, really.”
