Avengers Doomsday X-Men trailer – Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart are back | Films | Entertainment
Following the Steve Rogers and Thor teasers, a third Avengers Doomsday trailer has been released by Marvel.
Focused on the X-Men, Sir Patrick Stewart’s Professor X and Sir Ian McKellen’s Magneto are reunited over a game of chess some 12 years after they last shared the screen in X-Men: Days of Future Past, as Charles Xavier and his archfrenemy.
As Professor X speaks of death, shots appear of the X-Men mansion in a dilapidated state, before another scene debuts James Marsden’s Cyclops in a comic-accurate costume, as he lets his explosive eyeballs blast in front of him.
It’s expected that, in Avengers Doomsday, the X-Men will be from another universe to the MCU’s Earth-616, like the Fantastic Four.
Fans will recall Stewart’s Professor X cameoing in another universe during the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, he was murdered by Scarlet Witch, so presumably this is another Charles Xavier variant who’s also separate from the one that died in 2017’s Logan. Similarly, Hugh Jackman reprised the latter titular role in Deadpool and Wolverine, and is expected to reunite with the 2000s cast either in Avengers Doomsday or 2027’s Avengers Secret Wars.
Avengers Doomsday hits cinemas on December 18, 2026.
