Banish stubborn white stains from socks with ‘amazing’ £3 item


People have been left wowed by this simple hack to transform white socks – and make them appear brand new.

New white socks never look the same once you have worn them several times, and they can easily look grimy and stained in a matter of weeks. While a quick wash is usually enough to get your socks ready to wear again, it often does not suffice when comes to white socks as they can become stained and discoloure.

Plus, the last thing you want to do is spend a fortune on washing them over and over again or purchasing expensive cleaning products. Thankfully one laundry hack lover has come up with a simple tip which won’t break your bank account.

Online content cretaor @cleanwith_kayleigh, who boasts over two million followers on Instagram thanks for her page dedicated to all things cleaning and lifestyle, shared a video and said: “How to remove stubborn stains from white socks.” She swears by one product that costs £3.

Kayleigh puts all her dirty, stained socks in a small bucket with warm water. Then she adds in two scoops of The Pink Stuff oxi stain powder for whites. This product can be purchased from Savers for £3.

She then grabs a wooden spoons and stirs the socks around in the mixture. She then leaves the socks to soak for one hour. After 60 minutes, she empties the bucket into the bath. Once the socks are out, she sprays The Pink Stuff oxi stain remover on them before leaving them for five minutes. This product can be purchased from B&M Bargains for £1.49.

The Pink Stuff states: “This handy pre-treat stain remover spray is great for use with whites and colours and has been formulated for amazing stain removal. It works on many day to day stains with ease and gentleness due to its natural formulation.”

Finally, Kayleigh puts the socks into the washing machine with washing powder and oxi stain powder for whites. The mum says she swears by the genius trick to get stains out of her family’s white socks.

Commenting on the hack, one individual said: “I would save a clean fortune on Nike socks for my boys.” One other added: ” I can never get the grip socks white again or the strip, will need to try this.”

“Amazing results,” obeserved another. “Wow,” added another. “I need to do this,” added one other.

But one noted: “I just can’t be a**ed, I’d rather buy new socks.”
