British Gas customers get ‘half-price’ electricity on these days in summer | Personal Finance | Finance
British Gas has extended its PeakSave offer this summer, meaning that eligible customers will benefit from half-price electricity every Sunday.
The offer, which takes place between 9am and 5pm, will last until September 8 and comes as British Gas celebrates its partnership with Team GB and ParalympicsGB.
Eligible customers will also get to enjoy half-price electricity on two “super Saturdays”, which are due to fall on August 3 and September 7.
Catherine O’Kelly, managing director of British Gas Energy said: “Our PeakSave half-price electricity offer is already helping our customers to save money, while also shifting usage away from peak times.
“Tea and telly are a match made in heaven so we’re incredibly excited to launch this offer, and help the nation kick back with the sporting action and a cuppa in hand – knowing that they’ll be getting more for less all summer.”
Ms O’Kelly continued: “Whether we’re cheering with Lewis Hamilton or biting our nails during England penalties, the summer of sport brings the nation together.
“We’re all hoping for big successes like the unforgettable Super Saturday of London 2012, but our results show that we’ll be bursting with pride whatever happens.”
To benefit from the half-price savings, households must be British Gas customers with a smart electricity meter. Next, they must register their interest in the PeakSave scheme.
After each event, British Gas credits half of what’s been spent to the customer’s account.
The payment for “Gold Sundays” will show up as a ‘PeakSave Sunday Credit’, and Super Saturdays will appear as a ‘Peak Save Bonus Credit’ on the person’s next bill or online statement. It’ll normally appear within two weeks of each event ending.
Those who prepay for electricity will have credit automatically added to their meter each month. This will normally happen within 10 working days after the month ends.
British Gas also recently launched its PeakSave Green Flex scheme which will offer its PeakSave customers even more chances to save on their bills and contribute to a greener grid.
With PeakSave Green Flex events, customers get half-price electricity when there will be lots of renewable energy available, so if it’s super sunny or windy.
