Champions League to be shown on new broadcaster | Football | Sport

TNT Sports are reportedly set to lose the rights to broadcast Champions League matches from 2027. The broadcaster, which has been airing European football’s top competition since the 2015/16 season, will reportedly be replaced by rival network Paramount+, the Times report.

Since its inception, Paramount+ has primarily focused on films and entertainment, but has recently begun to expand its sports catalogue. Currently, US viewers can watch Champions League matches via the platform, which also recently secured a deal with UFC to broadcast their events.

The complex bidding process for the rights is being managed by Relevent Football, with bids for the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, and France all taking place simultaneously. Despite losing the Champions League rights, TNT will continue to hold the broadcasting rights for Premier League matches and the FA Cup.

This change could mean that football fans may need to subscribe to another service if they wish to continue watching Champions League football.

Amazon Prime is poised to secure the first choice of Tuesday matches in major European competitions, following a new streaming agreement with UEFA. The company is currently in a three-year contract to exclusively broadcast 17 top-pick matches from the competition each season.

This comes as the Champions League is set to resume after a two-week international break that also paused domestic football. Tuesday’s fixtures will see Ajax take on Benfica, Galatasaray face Union Saint-Gilloise, Bodo/Glimt host Juventus and Napoli go head-to-head with Qarabag.

In other matches, Newcastle United will travel to Marseille, Borussia Dortmund will welcome Villarreal, Chelsea will play Barcelona, Manchester City will clash with Bayer Leverkusen and Slavia Praha will meet Athletic Club.

The final of this season’s competition will be played at the Puskas Arena in Budapest, Hungary on May 30, 2026.
