Christian Horner flies into Bahrain Grand Prix as update on Red Bull boss emerges | F1 | Sport
Christian Horner is reportedly flying to Bahrain on Wednesday and could learn the outcome of Red Bull’s investigation into his conduct ahead of the season-opening Grand Prix. The Formula One team’s parent company has been investigating allegations of inappropriate behaviour made against Horner, which he denies.
The Red Bull team principal is expected to arrive in Bahrain on Wednesday evening. It means he is likely to miss media activity during the day, although the 50-year-old has been known to avoid those events in past seasons. Horner instead prefers to only travel to the track ahead of opening practice.
Red Bull appointed an independent barrister to investigate the allegations made against Horner. Interviews have taken place with the long-serving team F1 chief and other individuals in order to reach a conclusion.
According to Sky Sports, Horner has not been briefed on the outcome of the investigation. It has been claimed that a decision could be made public before Sunday’s Bahrain Grand Prix.
“What I can reveal is that Christian Horner is on a plane and is flying to Bahrain now,” Sky Sports reporter Craig Slater said on Wednesday morning.
“He is on his way here. What I can tell you is – and I know this for a fact – he does not know the outcome of this investigation into allegations of inappropriate behaviour. He has come here without knowing how this has been resolved, one way or the other.
“It’s a continuation of him saying this is business as usual, that he denies the allegations and that he wants to continue with his job. He should arrive here this evening.”
Slater continued: “My understanding is that we would get [an outcome] before the start of the season. I thought [something could be announced] Tuesday or Wednesday this week – we obviously didn’t get anything on Tuesday. Will we get something this evening?”
