Cole Palmer sends cryptic message as Chelsea return teased after injury absence | Football | Sport
Chelsea talisman Cole Palmer has fuelled speculation about his imminent return to the pitch, following a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to a groin injury. The playmaker has missed his team’s last 11 matches, with his most recent appearance being against Manchester United in the Premier League in September.
Despite the ongoing recovery process, Palmer has only managed to make four appearances for the Blues this season. Enzo Maresca, however, is eager to have the Ballon d’Or nominee back in the squad as soon as possible.
As Chelsea prepare for their upcoming Premier League match against Burnley at Turf Moor, Palmer has hinted that his return might be closer than expected.
In an Instagram story shared with his 8.4 million followers, Palmer posted a photo of himself in the Chelsea dressing room.
It was accompanied by two egg timer emojis, possibly indicating his impending return.
Maresca has been regularly updating fans on Palmer’s progress, with the latest update suggesting that the 23 year old could be back in action sooner rather than later.
“So in this moment, we go day by day with Cole. He’s [still] not taking any session with the team,” Maresca revealed earlier this month.
“To be honest, I would like to have Cole here tomorrow. I would like to have Cole early. I said many times that we are a better team with Cole.
“Unfortunately for us, he’s out, he’s injured, but for sure we want him back very soon.”
Following their Premier League encounter with Burnley, Chelsea face two crucial fixtures across both domestic and European competitions.
The Blues will face Barcelona in the Champions League before welcoming Arsenal to Stamford Bridge in the top flight just days later, with Palmer’s availability for either match still uncertain.
