Cookers left ‘clean and shiny’ with simple tip – and it only costs a penny

Yes, you read that right, just 1p.

All you need is something that might already be in your household – petroleum jelly, which is also known as Vaseline.

The video for the hack has gathered 147k views so far, with Brittany saying that the jelly will create a thin layer on top which will help prevent any more diet from getting on it when you clean it.

Brittany said: “First you want to start by cleaning your stove top to get any caked-on food debris dirt off of the stovetop.

“Then get a little bit of Vaseline on the corner of a cloth and buff that into your stovetop.

“If it is stainless steel you want to go in the direction of the grain so not only is this going to polish and shine your stovetop.

“It provides the added benefit of a very thin layer of protection that serves as a barrier and helps protect your stovetop.

“So then the next time you go to clean your stovetop everything’s going to come off a lot easier.”

The professional also added you can use this trick on other appliances too.

She continued: “You can apply the same hack to polishing and cleaning and stainless steel in your house so your refrigerator, your dishwasher, anything.”

To make sure it is adding that protective barrier you have to clean it first and then follow it with the Vaseline. Then use a “dry cloth to polish it.”

People took to the comment section of the video to share their thoughts on the advice.

One person wrote: “You were the person that taught me about using olive oil on stainless steel years ago, and I’ve been doing that ever since!

“Do you like olive oil the same as Vaseline or is one better than the other?

“I’m always a little hesitant with Vaseline as I have not always heard that it’s the best product to use?”

A second said: “I’m definitely going to give the Vaseline hack a try! I’m always up for trying anything to keep my stainless appliances looking clean and shiny! Thank you! BTW, I bought your bamboo sheets… and I am in love! NOW I know what all the fuss is about!

Another commented: “I’ve tried both, but a thin coating of mineral oil is much less messy than Vaseline.

“It also doesn’t attract as much pet hair and lint.”

Will you be giving this cleaning hack a try?
