Darts star in bad mood because of Rangers despite World Grand Prix win | Other | Sport
Darts ace Cameron Menzies has confessed that the struggles of his favourite football team, Rangers, have been a distraction from his practice – likening his feelings for the Ibrox side to having a toxic ex-girlfriend. The Scottish darts star made it to the second round of the World Grand Prix with an impressive 2-0 victory over Chris Dobey.
He is set to face former world champion Rob Cross next. And the Ayrshire player admitted that Russell Martin’s rocky tenure at his beloved club has left him feeling frustrated.
After his win against Dobey, Menzies remarked: “It doesn’t affect my game but it affects my attitude in practice! I just sit there in a huff, especially this year. It’s been terrible. It’s a team I love, it’s a big part of my life.
“Whenever I get a chance I try to watch them even in Germany I pay to watch it on my phone. At this moment in time, it’s a bad part of my life because it’s not going well.
“It’s like one of those toxic ex-girlfriends, just get rid of them but you can’t help but keep in touch.”
