David Beckham has been targeted in a fiery statement from his eldest son Brooklyn. Yet, the former Manchester United hero’s own Father’s Day message from last summer speaks volumes.

Brooklyn included in his statement that he does not want reconciliation with his family, including father David. But the former England star posted his own statement with a vastly different tone just last year, demonstrating how differently the pair saw their relationship and how far it has seemingly deteriorated since.

In June 2025, Beckham took to Instagram with a picture of his four children on Father’s Day and accompanied it with a heartfelt caption, which acted as a message to his kids.

“My most important and favourite job in life is being a dad,” he wrote. “I’m so proud of all of you and like daddy (sorry boys) tells you every single day, I will always be here for you no matter what…”

Brooklyn, however, sees things very differently. The 26-year-old included in his statement details of an alleged disagreement over naming rights, claiming both Victoria and David have been off with him since.

“My parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn’t stopped,” Brooklyn wrote. “Weeks before our big day, my parents repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe me into signing away the rights to my name, which would have affected me, my wife, and our future children.

“They were adamant on me signing before my wedding date because then the terms of the deal would be initiated. My holdout affected the payday, and they have never treated me the same since.”

Brooklyn further alleges that during his father’s 50th birthday celebrations in the summer of 2025, David refused to meet him unless his wife Nicola was excluded. David’s eldest son continued: “We travelled to London for my dad’s birthday and were rejected for a week as we waited in our hotel room trying to plan quality time with him.

“He refused all of our attempts, unless it was at his big birthday party with a hundred guests and cameras at every corner. When he finally agreed to see me, it was under the condition that Nicola wasn’t invited. It was a slap in the face.

“My family values public promotion and endorsements above all else. Brand Beckham comes first. Family ‘love’ is decided by how much you post on social media, or how quickly you drop everything to show up and pose for a family photo opp, even if it’s at the expense of our professional obligations.”
