Saturday’s heavyweight showdown at the O2 Arena in London marks Chisora’s return to the ring for the first time in more than a year. His most recent outing was a unanimous decision victory over Otto Wallin in February 2025.
The British fighter faces America’s Wilder, who has secured just two wins from his last six contests and enters the bout following a knockout triumph over Tyrrell Anthony Herndon. Chisora tipped the scales ahead of Saturday’s encounter at a career-heaviest weight of 19st 1lbs while Wilder registered 16st 2lbs.
Speaking once the main broadcast on DAZN had began, presenter Ade Oladipo said: “I did hear there were a few gremlins with the sound a bit earlier for those of you that are watching it on YouTube. Those gremlins have now gone, so make sure you buy the pay-per-view.”
The contest has been billed as one of the final outings in both men’s careers. Chisora, 42, has already vowed that he will retire following the bout on Saturday and is hoping to secure one final victory over the American.
Speaking to DAZN ahead of the fight, he said: “I know he has PTSD with Tyson Fury. That’s the game of boxing, mind games. All of you know what time it is. When I strap up the boots and gloves I go in there, there’s only one thing, let’s go. There’s no point sugar-coating it, I know it will be an amazing amazing fight for me and this man here.
“I don’t look at those fights with Zhang and everybody, I look at this man now, he says he’s healed, he’s trained well, I’m excited.”
Wilder, meanwhile, has responded to reports that there had been an issue surrounding the gloves ahead of the bout, conceding that the problem had originated on his side.
The 40-year-old said: “I broke my hands so many times, I just want to be comfortable in the ring, I had the issue with the gloves being too tight on my hands but we’ll get it straightened out.
“I’m a true fighter, when it’s time to fight let’s go, I love fighting just like this man loves fighting. All my life I’ve had to fight.
“Come Saturday night they’ll get an explosion.”
