Donald Trump health fears soar as US President ‘lied’ in MRI test | World | News
Rumours of Donald Trump’s declining health are continuing to bubble despite the president releasing the results of an MRI test to the public on Monday. The 79-year-old is the oldest president ever elected, and with rumours of him falling asleep in meetings, bruises on his hands, and swollen ankles, many people are questioning how fit and healthy he really is.
Talk online prompted Trump to release his medical results, after claiming his health was “perfect” and was the best his doctor had ever seen. Speaking to reporters on Air Force One, he said: “If you want to have it released, I’ll release it. Getting an MRI is very standard. What, you think I shouldn’t have it? Other people get it. I had an MRI.”
Soon after, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was standing before a crowd of reporters, grasping an official report from the president’s physician, Navy Captain Sean Barbabella.
The document claimed the scan was merely a preventative measure “to identify issues early, confirm overall health, and ensure he maintains long-term vitality” and that the President’s results were “perfectly normal”.
He added: “His abdominal imaging is also perfectly normal. All major organs appear very healthy and well-perfused. Everything evaluated is functioning within normal limits with no acute or chronic concerns”.
However, despite Trump’s allegedly normal scan, many medical experts believe that the White House is hiding something.
Speaking to Yahoo News, former doctor to Dick Cheney, Dr Jonathan Reiner, said that an MRI is never used as part of a health check-up, even if you’re the commander-in-chief.
Dr Reiner said the term ‘preventive’ is misleading and “indicates a clinical concern”.
He added: “An MRI is never part of a routine evaluation, whether you’re President of the United States or whether you’re just a civilian.”
“Typically, MRIs are prompted by symptoms… neurologic symptoms… back pain… issues with the heart… For those reasons, the public should really be told why the president underwent the test, what consultants he saw, and what was the result.”
The confusion of why a fit and healthy man would have such a detailed scan continued, Dr Vin Gupta told The Times of India: “Even if you are the leader of the free world, you don’t just get an MRI without a clear reason… There’s no such thing as a ‘screening’ MRI.”
