Flash floods have swamped Dubai, leaving the streets waterlogged with residents wading through the water-filled roads and traffic grinding to a halt. The UAE is facing its heaviest rainfall since records began 76 years ago, with police forces working round the clock.

Dubai police teams have urged locals to stay indoors. In a statement, the police said: “For your safety, please remain cautious as unstable weather conditions are expected in the coming hours, and avoid going out unless it is absolutely necessary until midday on Friday.
