Duchess Sophie’s sandals drop by £30 in royal-approved brand’s sale | Royal | News
Penelope Chilvers is a British heritage brand that designs timeless footwear and accessories made to last. Over the years, pieces from the designer have been worn by members of the royal family, including Kate Middleton who has had their Long Tassel Boots for decades.
Sophie Wessex, the Duchess of Edinburgh, also owns a pair of Penelope Chilvers shoes – the High Catalina Cotton Espadrilles. Sizes of her exact pair are limited, however, we’ve found a closed-toe alternative from Penelope Chilvers that you can snap up for less than £70.
The Valenciana Canvas Espadrilles are typically £99 but have been reduced to £69 as part of the brand’s summer sale. Shoppers will have to be quick if they want to take advantage of the deal as it is only running for a few more days.
Made from natural cotton canvas with a jute woven heel and tonal cotton laces to tie up, the summer sandals can be paired with all kinds of dresses. Sophie Wessex has previously worn her Penelope Chilvers with floral summer dresses and floaty trousers.
The mid-height design will give you a slight boost, elongating and flattering your legs, without being hard to walk in or feeling uncomfortable. They are slightly lower than Sophie’s style making them easier for everyday wear.
If you want your Valenciana Canvas Espadrilles to last you for years to come, they do require a little maintenence. The brand explains that if you want to look after the cotton and linen, you must gently clean with a barely damp sponge. Then, use a steamer to remove creases, gently smoothing with your fingers after a light steam only.
