EDF is giving customers a month’s worth of ‘free electricity’ throughout December next year as part of a new deal.

The energy supplier is launching a new heat pump bundle to help households reduce the costs of transitioning from gas to low-carbon, low-cost electric heating.

As part of the deal, EDF is offering ‘free electricity’ for the entire month of December 2025, alongside a 7-year warranty and service package which it says is worth more than £1,500.

The offer is only available for a limited time, with the supplier giving customers until December 31, 2024 to sign up.

Those who do sign up for the ‘Heat Pump and Power Tracker’, and opt to switch their properties entirely away from gas, could then benefit from zero energy bills during December 2025, according to EDF.

As an added benefit, customers will also get a free 7-year warranty, servicing and maintenance package worth £1,150 upon installation.

On top of this, EDF says the three-year tracker tariff also offers six hours of discounted zero carbon electricity every day, all year round, saving at least £364 against Standard Variable prices.

The tariff will offer two off-peak windows from 4am to 7am and 1pm to 4pm meaning customers who shift their household energy consumption could save even more on bills, without the worry of any premium peak rates. Customers also won’t have to worry about exit fees or tie-ins, EDF says.

Philippe Commaret, Managing Director of Customers at EDF, said: “It’s great to see a growing interest among households in switching from inefficient, fossil fuel-based heating to zero carbon alternatives. However, we recognise challenges, such as cost, still exist.

“By working closely with Ideal Heating on our Heat Pump and Power Tracker tariff bundle, we hope to support more customers with installing sustainable, energy-efficient solutions, and in doing so, enable them to achieve significant cash and carbon savings.”

To be eligible for the Heat Pump and Power Tracker tariff, you’ll need:

• To have agreed a contract to have an Ideal heat pump installed by CB Heating and paid a deposit by December 31, 2024

• An air source heat pump installed by September 30, 2025

• A smart meter

• To be opted into half-hourly meter reads

• To pay by Direct Debit
