Elon Musk ‘was butthurt’ after string of White House humiliations | World | News

Donald Trump ally Elon Musk blasted the US President as he has reportedly been left feeling “butthurt” by several decisions that went against him. The tech billionaire took to his X social media platform to hit out at Mr Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” of tax breaks and spending cuts as a “disgusting abomination”.

The world’s richest person, who until recently headed up the cost-cutting DOGE team as a special government employee, voiced his public criticism due to what appears to be “four inflection points”, US news website Axios reported, citing sources familiar with the TrumpMusk relationship. This included the legislation cutting electric vehicle taxes beneficial to Mr Musk’s Tesla firm, the billionaire being unable to continue in his DOGE role and the President’s decision to withdraw the nomination of a Musk ally to be NASA administrator. Another reason is a decision not to use his Starlink technology for national air traffic control by the Federal Aviation Administration, sources told Axios.

“Elon was butthurt,” one source said.

It is claimed the pair remain friends and allies, however the President was described as “irked” by Mr Musk’s comments on social media, according to Axios.

Mr Musk left his role spearheading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) last week and was bid farewell by the US President in the Oval Office.

Mr Trump praised the entrepreneur for introducing “a colossal change in the old ways of doing business in Washington” and said some of his staff would remain in the administration.

DOGE, which claims to have made $175 billion in savings, has cut tens of thousands of jobs since its formation in January.

Mr Musk’s post on X came just days after his goodbye at the White House where he received a ceremonial key while donning a t-shirt with the words “The Dogefather”.

“I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore,” he said on Tuesday. “This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination.

“Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it.”

In American politics, “pork” refers to spending on local projects that often benefit politicians’ constituencies.

Mr Musk served in his DOGE role for 129 days.

As a special government employee, he could only work a maximum of 130 days.

A spokesperson for Mr Musk could not be reached, Axios reported.
