England squad ‘leaked’ as Lee Carsley brutally snubs four stars vs Greece and Finland | Football | Sport
Maguire was included in the England squad for last month’s fixtures but will play no part in the upcoming international break. It follows the emergence of Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez as the first-choice centre-backs at Manchester United.
Maddison, meanwhile, has not played for England since being cut from Gareth Southgate’s preliminary selection ahead of Euro 2024. The former Leicester man has chipped in with two assists and a goal for Tottenham this season.
Rogers has emerged as one of Villa’s most important players this season, starting every game for them in the Premier League and Champions League. However, he will need to bide his time for a debut England call-up after being overlooked by Carsley.
Bowen has also been left out despite contributing with two goals and one assist in all competitions for West Ham this season.
Solanke’s inclusion comes after his strong start to life at Tottenham following his move from Bournemouth over the summer. He has scored three goals in six league games for the north Londoners, including one in their victory at United over the weekend.
The 27-year-old picked up an injury in the draw with Leicester on the opening weekend of the campaign but Ange Postecoglou said earlier this week that he would be fit enough to represent England over the international break.
“There are no issues around him from a physical perspective,” said the Spurs manager. “I get enough stick for my own selections so I am not going to get involved in anyone else’s selections but, yeah. Dom is fine.”
