England stars brutally trolled by Aussie pranksters in fresh Ashes embarrassment | Cricket | Sport

England cricket stars were brutally trolled by two radio hosts as they relaxed on a beach in Noosa after the second Ashes Test. The Three Lions have endured a nightmare start to their Ashes campaign and already find themselves 2-0 behind in the series following a string of lacklustre performances.

England were defeated in two days in the opening Test at the Optus Stadium in Perth last month. And the team suffered another bruising loss in the second Test at The Gabba in Brisbane. Those results have left England captain Ben Stokes and his team-mates hurtling towards a comprehensive series defeat ahead of the final three Tests.

England headed to the beach town of Noosa on the Sunshine Coast after their second Ashes defeat. The players assembled on the beach on Wednesday morning, with Stokes and Mark Wood pictured relaxing near the water.

And Stokes was then approached by MixFM radio presenters Sam Arenson and Henry Bretz – also known as Archie and Bretz. The duo were dressed in full cricket whites and asked the blockbuster star for a picture.

But as Stokes stood between the pair with a glum expression on his face, Archie held up a sign that read: “For sale, moral victories.” And Bretz displayed a sign with the wording: “Bazballers anonymous. Free counselling.”

Archie shared the image to X (formerly Twitter). And he captioned the post: “We’re Archie & Bretz from 92.7 MixFM on the Sunshine Coast. Here’s the pic we got with Stokesy!”

Discussing his team’s plans to visit the beach in the aftermath of the second Test, England head coach Brendon McCullum said: “We have got a couple of days in Noosa, which will be good to spend a couple of days casually, and let the dust settle on what has been a pretty intense couple of weeks and start to plot and plan our way back into the series.”

But England cricket icon David Lloyd admitted he wasn’t in favour of the trip as he explained: “I don’t think I’d be going to Noosa. I’m a bit old-school, it’d be naughty boy nets.

“There are definite consequences to this. There always has been, there always will be. There will be consequences and those start with those in charge.”

And former England captain Nasser Hussain wrote: “I can’t understand England’s schedule for the week ahead. [They] will be going into the third Test without playing a single warm-up game against Australian opposition, and that is beyond me.”
