Denzel Dumfries has taken full responsibility for conceding the penalty that launched England’s comeback semi-final win on Wednesday.
The Netherlands defender clipped Harry Kane as he attempted to block a shot, which prompted a VAR review.
Kane fired the penalty home, cancelling out Xavi Simons’ opener, before Ollie Watkins’ 90th-minute winner in Dortmund.
And Dumfries, while insisting there was barely contact, has admitted it was a penalty in the age of VAR.
He said: “I want to block the shot. I barely touch him. I do think [it’s a VAR penalty]. You know when he goes to the sideline, he can give it. I take full responsibility.”
