Every UK bank branch closing in 2026 – full list | Personal Finance | Finance

This year has seen the mass closure of some of the biggest high street banks. In 2025 alone, nearly 400 branches have closed down, and it comes as a result of the shift in consumer habits that has hit the nation. The likes of Lloyds Banking Group (Lloyds Bank, Halifax and Bank of Scotland), Santander, and NatWest have all revealed that more of their customers are shifting to online and digital banking services rather than banking in person.

However, despite the many branches that have already closed this year, a significant number of banks are also already scheduled for closure next year. Lloyds Banking Group is continuing to cut the number of branches across its network, with 68 locations confirmed.

A Lloyds Banking Group spokesperson said: “The way people are banking has changed, with over 21 million customers choosing our apps to manage their money. We’re providing more choice than ever before, bringing together the best in digital convenience with our people.

“Alongside our app, our customers can use any Lloyds, Halifax or Bank of Scotland branch, the Post Office or banking hubs for their everyday banking, and deposit cash at over 30,000 PayPoint locations.”

Natwest also plan to close banks in 2026. However, most of the branches set to close will remain open for customers until a Banking Hub is set up in the area.
