F1 team confirm name change for 2026 as exciting new partnership announced | F1 | Sport
Haas have announced a strengthened partnership with Toyota Gazoo Racing for the 2026 F1 season that will see the squad renamed “TGR Haas F1 Team”. This marks the end of the current title sponsorship deal with MoneyGram.
Toyota’s motorsport division entered a multi-year technical partnership with Haas in late 2024, which has since allowed the American F1 squad to take their first steps into TPC (testing of previous cars) events.
Japanese racers Sho Tsuboi, Ritomo Miyata, and Kamui Kobayashi are among the stars who have experienced TPC days with Haas over the past two years. The Kannapolis-based team have travelled to Fuji Speedway, Imola, and Paul Ricard, among other venues, for their testing to date.
Now, heading into the first year of F1’s new technical regulations, Toyota Gazoo Racing will become the title sponsor of the team. “It’s naturally a privilege to deepen our relationship with TGR through this new title partnership agreement,” team principal Ayao Komatsu said ahead of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
“Our working relationship to date has been everything we hoped it would be. It’s been evidenced through our successful TPC running this season, but there’s been so much more going on behind the scenes, too – including the development and installation of the simulator at our Banbury facility for 2026.
“The cultivation of personnel, all working collaboratively between Haas F1 Team and TGR, has benefited us greatly, and that’s something that will only increase as our partnership matures. We’re excited to further grow with the likes of our driver program too, and it’s been encouraging to see the depth of talent TGR is backing in that process.”
Toyota chairman Akio Toyoda added: “By taking our partnership with Haas another step forward next year, TGR’s ‘People, Product, Pipeline’ mantra – will accelerate in a way we have never seen before.
“The time has come for the next generation to take their first steps toward the world stage. Together with Gene Haas, Ayao, and everyone at TGR Haas F1 Team, we will build both a culture and a team for the future. Toyota is now truly on the move.”
Haas still have plenty to fight for before the end of the 2025 season, too. Heading into the final race of the season, Komatsu’s squad sit eighth in the Constructors’ Championship standings. However, they are only seven points behind Aston Martin and five ahead of Sauber.
Oliver Bearman is still in play for a top-10 finish in the Drivers’ Championship, too, although the young Brit will need a significant result in Abu Dhabi to cut the 10-point gap to Isack Hadjar. Both Nico Hulkenberg and Fernando Alonso are sandwiched between the two rookies in 11th and 12th, respectively.
