Kill Bill: Vol. 1 bears the signature style of acclaimed filmmaker Quentin Tarantino and boasts a stellar ensemble cast featuring Uma Thurman, Lucy Liu, Vivica A. Fox, Michael Madsen, Daryl Hannah, David Carradine, Sonny Chiba and Julie Dreyfus. This cult classic chronicles the journey of a former contract killer known only as The Bride (portrayed by Uma Thurman), who emerges from a four-year coma following a murderous ambush by her vengeful former partner Bill (portrayed by David Carradine) at her wedding ceremony.

Driven by an all-consuming thirst for retribution, she pledges to settle scores with everyone responsible for destroying her unborn baby, massacring her wedding guests, and stealing four years of her life. Armed with a carefully compiled list of targets, The Bride embarks on her mission, weathering brutal injuries and ruthless adversaries.

The picture has accumulated numerous five-star ratings on movie enthusiast platform Rotten Tomatoes, with one reviewer declaring: “[It’s] my absolute favorite movie of all time. No matter how many times I watch it, it feels like it’s over in a snap.”

Another wrote: “The music. The siren. The Japanese club scene. The iconic imagery. The yellow jumpsuit and bike. One of my favorite movies brilliantly shifts between violence, humour, camp, and trope. It is a kickass, beautiful, entertaining movie.”

A third viewer stated: “One of my favorite movies of all time. It’s a great tribute to martial arts, samurai, and exploitation films of the 70s.

“And with that has a compelling and thrilling story of a women’s revenge on her ex-boss/lover. It’s a roaring rampage of revenge that is worth taking on. It truly is one of Tarantino’s best films.”

A fourth contributor wrote: “One of my all time favourites! I love Uma Thurman in this film, what a sexy bad ass! Go get your vengeance girl!”

Someone else added: “I can’t believe I slept on this movie for so many years, this is honestly a new favorite of mine, and I would gladly check out more of Quentin Tarantino’s work.”

One assessment noted: “The writing, fight choreography, quirky effects, the raw performances. It’s the female characters that dominate this movie, and do it with unmatched grit.”

Another fan observed: “[It’s] a film that has gone down in cinema history as a landmark, which many people want to imitate… all the scenes are iconic and there are many references to Akira Kurosawa’s film ‘Seven Samurai’. A must-see film for cinema lovers.”

Kill Bill: Vol 1 airs on Thursday 15 January on ITV4 at 11.15pm.
