Five injured including two children in gas explosion | World | News
Emergency crews rushed to the scene around 7.30am on Saturday, January 30 following reports of a barbecue blast at the BIG4 Ingenia Holidays park at Lake Conjola on the NSW South Coast, Australia, The Mirror reports.
Numerous paramedic teams responded to the explosion whilst an ambulance rescue helicopter was also scrambled to the location. Two of those needing medical attention are youngsters under the age of five.
A man in his 30s was airlifted to Wollongong Hospital with facial wounds and remains in a stable condition.
Three casualties were rushed to Shoalhaven Memorial Hospital, including a woman and two children under the age of five.
The woman, who is in her 30s, is receiving care for abdominal wounds and remains in a stable condition, whilst the two youngsters are being treated for minor injuries.
Video footage circulated online reveals debris and a demolished barbecue section, with mangled metal and personal items strewn throughout the area.
One witness recounted the horrifying moment the blast erupted. They said: “I was sitting on the balcony and it was just a huge explosion.”
The observer said a holidaying family had been preparing breakfast on the barbecues when the blast happened.
A NSW Ambulance spokesperson said the incident was ongoing, reports nine News.
