FPL injury news: Semenyo, Cunha, Palmer, Gyokeres, Gabriel latest for GW13 | Football | Sport

FPL managers will be sweating on the fitness of a host of players ahead of GW13. The game week gets underway on Saturday, with the deadline to make transfers passing at 1.30pm.

Manchester City are the first of the big six to play this weekend, with Pep Guardiola’s side hosting Leeds at 3pm on Saturday. Newcastle and Tottenham will also be in action on the same day, while Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal will all play on Sunday. And Express Sport brings you the latest FPL injury news.

Antoine Semenyo

Antoine Semenyo missed Bournemouth’s draw with West Ham last time out after aggravating an ankle injury while in international action for Ghana.

And ahead of the clash with the Hammers, Cherries boss Andoni Iraola explained: “Antoine is different. Justin [Kluivert] and Ben [Gannon-Doak] have muscle injuries and Antoine’s was not something new that happened when he was there (away with Ghana). He was already dealing with an ankle injury.” Iraola is likely to offer a further update ahead of Bournemouth’s trip to Sunderland.

Matheus Cunha

Matheus Cunha missed Manchester United’s defeat to Everton on Monday evening after suffering an injury in training.

And Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim admitted earlier in the week that he doesn’t know how long the issue will take to recover from.

“It was a knock in training,” Amorim said. “I don’t know how long he is going to stay out. I think it’s nothing serious but we cannot risk players.”

Cole Palmer

Cole Palmer has endured an injury-hit campaign and hasn’t played since September. The England international has been struggling with a groin injury, and his return to action was delayed after he fractured his toe after stubbing it on a door at home last week.

But, according to The Guardian, the attacker has trained with the Blues squad this week and Chelsea are hopeful that he will declare himself fit for the visit of Arsenal.

Viktor Gyokeres

Viktor Gyokeres hasn’t played since being forced off at the interval when Arsenal overcame Burnley ahead of the November international break.

The Sweden striker wasn’t in the Gunners squad for their Champions League clash with Bayern Munich on Wednesday evening, although Mikel Arteta insisted the player was “very close” to returning.

And discussing Gyokeres and the injured Kai Havertz at the same time, Arteta added: “Really good both of them. So in the next few days, again, I think they are going to have a repeat scan to see how everything is and whether we can push them – or not – for the weekend or the following game.”

Gabriel

Arsenal look set to be without Gabriel for the third match in a row after the influential defender was forced off during Brazil’s recent friendly against Senegal.

Gabriel is suffering with an adductor injury, with recent reports suggesting he could be out until the New Year. Arteta, meanwhile, revealed the centre-back would be out for “weeks” ahead of last weekend’s north London derby.
