Gardeners praise ‘sturdy’ wooden raised garden bed

Gardeners looking to improve their outdoor space but are struggling to find room to plant more beautiful flowers and plants may find raised garden beds the perfect solution. Shopping marketplace Yimbly (owned by the Daily Express parent company Reach Plc) is currently offering a small discount on the popular Outsunny 3 Tier Wooden Raised Garden Bed. Originally priced at £55.99, the garden structure can now be purchased for £50.39 with free delivery.

The ‘sturdy’ tiered planter is made from fir wood and is ideal for flowers, plants, vegetables and herbs. Yimbly says the raised bed gives greenery ‘plenty of room to grow and flourish’. It has a paint coating to protect it from the outdoor elements, and each tier has two drainage holes to prevent excess water buildup.

B&Q is selling a similar Large Wooden Ladder Planter priced at £85.99. This option is made from redwood that has been stained to protect it from the weather and can be painted.

Elsewhere, Amazon’s 3 Tier Vertical Ladder Garden Planter costs £72.59 and has square-shaped planters. One of the beds has a handy open shelf underneath that’s ideal for storing gardening essentials such as  watering cans, shovels and shears.

Only three Yimbly shoppers have so far reviewed the Outsunny 3 Tier Wooden Raised Garden Bed, however they have all rated it five stars. One buyer wrote: “An attractive addition to the garden. Really love this planter which has three deep troughs. Sturdy enough, as well.”

Someone else commented: “Great look and great quality, including brass effect screws. So pleased that we bought another one.” Another shopper simply added: “Great planter, herbs fit in, can definitely recommend.”

Despite not one person having a bad word to say about the raised garden bed, it’s worth noting that some customers have experienced issues with Yimbly’s delivery service. On Trustpilot, one person explained: “The item was advertised with a delivery time of 3–5 working days, but I’ve now been waiting 10 working days without any confirmation of a delivery date.

“It wasn’t made clear that this is a two-person delivery, which may be contributing to the delay. I’m very disappointed, especially as this was intended as a gift that now won’t arrive on time.”
