Germany car ramming attack LIVE: ‘Two dead’ in Mannheim and ‘dozens injured’ | World | News

Two people have been killed and 25 injured in a suspected car-ramming attack in Germany, it has been reported. Bild said that 15 were seriously injured in the incident in Mannheim.

The German newspaper added that a “lifeless person” covered with a tarpaulin lay near a tram stop. Police said: “Due to the police deployment, citizens are asked to avoid Mannheim city centre and to take a wide detour.”

Video on social media appears to show people obscuring the view of at least one person injured on the floor with their coats following the suspected attack.

Local outlet MANNHEIM24 suggested a black SUV drove at high speed into a crowd of people.

One witness told the Mannheimer Morgen newspaper: “It is terrible here, nobody knows what happened, you only see injured people and the dead, and you don’t know what to do.”

So far, police have confirmed one death.
