Gerwyn Price admits that winning the World Darts Championship for a second time wouldn’t change his life from a financial perspective. The Iceman has earned so much money throughout his darting journey that another million pounds wouldn’t exactly transform his circumstances.

Price has secured five major trophies, including his World Championship triumph in 2021, earning him a substantial £4.2million throughout his entire career. Following his commanding 3-0 win over Adam Gawlas in the opening round, the Welshman revealed his priorities lie with trophies rather than money.

Price said: “It just goes into the business account. I mean, if you’ve all got business accounts, which you probably have, you can only draw a certain amount out a year, unless you’re buying properties, which I do.

“So, yeah, I could probably buy a nice place in Dubai or somewhere. It would just sit there. It wouldn’t change my life.”

The Iceman faces Dutchman Wesley Plaisier in the next round at Ally Pally as he aims to progress beyond Christmas in north London. Should he advance and choose to return home during the brief festive break, chances are he’ll spend time in a place where he has opted to invest heavily – his bespoke man cave beneath his Welsh valleys residence.

This hidden retreat sits underneath his property and was kitted out using his £4.2m earnings from his darting exploits. The man cave boasts a cinema section featuring a 100-inch 4K television and a 12-speaker ‘Artcoustic’ surround-sound setup.

The ceiling boasts planetarium-style lighting to create a soothing ambience, complemented by a five-seater L-shaped sofa and a dedicated lounge chair for Price – uniquely upholstered with his former darts shirts. A well-stocked bar sits behind the seating arrangement, proudly displaying his remarkable trophy haul.

The space is full of Price’s honours and achievements, complete with a fridge for chilled drinks and four stools positioned for relaxation away from the television.

Naturally, a dartboard and snooker table feature prominently, though Price confesses he dedicates more time to an entirely different sport than his professional calling. The Welshman previously said: “I probably play snooker more than darts – which might be the problem!”
