Girl, 6, dies after alleged gang-rape and rooftop fall as suspects shot | World | News

A six year old girl tragically lost her life after she was reportedly gang-raped and thrown from a rooftop, police confirmed on Friday. The young victim was rushed to a local hospital following the horrific incident but, despite best efforts, was declared dead upon arrival. The dreadful event took place in the Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh, India.

Authorities confirmed that two men, identified as Raju and Veeru, were apprehended following a brief shootout in the Sikandrabad industrial area. Both suspects sustained gunshot wounds to their legs during the police operation and were taken to hospital for treatment. Officers found two firearms and ammunition at the scene.

The victim’s father filed an official complaint, prompting police to form three special teams to track down the suspects. Superintendent of Police Dr. Tejveer Singh revealed that the accused opened fire when officers attempted to intercept them, reports the Mirror.

“During initial interrogation, the defendants admitted to their involvement,” Singh told reporters. The girl, who lived in the same building as the suspects, was allegedly attacked while playing on the terrace, according to Mirror US reports.

Her family alleges she was sexually assaulted before being thrown from the roof. A post-mortem examination has been ordered to confirm the rape allegations.

Police have announced that further charges will be added to the case once medical results are available. The incident has sparked outrage in the region, drawing attention to ongoing concerns about crimes against women and children in India.

In a separate incident, an 18 year old man from Pennsylvania was arrested after allegedly shooting both his parents and killing his mother the day after Christmas.

Jarrod Noll was apprehended in West Virginia following a comprehensive manhunt by Pennsylvania police. Officers report that the teenager was armed when he was taken into custody.

The incident took place on Friday, 26 December, at approximately 1.58pm local time.

Police disclosed that Noll’s younger siblings were inside the property when the shooting occurred; however, as the incident unfolded outdoors, they remained unscathed. The siblings, whose identities have been kept confidential, are now under the care of another relative.

Noll is currently held in police custody in West Virginia awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania. He faces charges of homicide and attempted homicide.
