The countdown to the Masters is well and truly on. Just eight days remain until the first major of the year kicks off, and all eyes will focus on Augusta National. The field is almost set as more than 90 stars contend for the title.

Rory McIlroy will be focused on retaining his crown next week after claiming the green jacket in a playoff victory over Justin Rose 12 months ago, as he got over the final hurdle to complete a career slam. The Northern Irishman has already made a decision beyond his next tournament and chosen to forgo playing in the Zurich Classic, with Shane Lowry left to find a new partner.

Golf’s biggest star, Tiger Woods, has finally spoken out after being arrested last week. The American icon was involved in a crash but has pleaded not guilty via his lawyers to driving under the influence with property damage and refusing to submit a lawful test. He now appears unlikely to take up a spot at the Masters.
