Gordon Ramsay is known for his harsh on-screen persona, but his life away from the cameras is much more than yelling at people in kitchens. The 59-year-old celebrity chef has a huge family and several homes, and is thought to spend much of his time residing in a leafy London suburb.

Wandsworth in South London has been his home since around 2002. Him and his wife Tana bought the £7million property with eight bedrooms for their growing family, and they now have six children altogether. The gorgeous townhouse went through a renovation over the past few years, and work is now complete.

According to Country and Town House, Gordon got planning permission in 2021 to redecorate the home, transforming four of the existing bedrooms into a one-floor-spanning master bedroom with two ensuite bathrooms and a walk-in dressing area.

A new basement was also introduced, as well as a wine cellar and ground floor extension. The family had to move out for a while as the work was getting done, but they were able to settle back in in 2024.

The eight bedrooms were needed when they first moved in, as the Ramsay children were still young and living at home. There’s Megan, 27, twins Holly and Jack, 26, Tilly, 24, Oscar, six and Jesse James, aged two. So far, Tilly is the only one who is following in her father’s culinary footsteps, with her own cooking show Dish It Out launching last year.

The borough of Wandsworth is massively popular, not just with Gordon but with other celebrities too. Residents have included Keira Knightley, Louis Theroux, Sting, Sadiq Khan and Bear Grylls.

It was named as the London Borough of Culture in 2025, celebrated for its rich mix of traditions, festivals, food, and arts – so it’s no wonder that Gordon would want to move there and immerse in the foodie scene.

Property prices there average at around £813,000 according to Rightmove. But prices vary greatly depending on where you are, with the average flat costing around £554,000. Terraced properties sold for an average of £1,200,601, with semi-detached properties fetching £1,973,591.

Surprisingly, Gordon doesn’t actually have any restaurants in his home suburb of Wandsworth. In the past, he operated a central production kitchen on Wandsworth Road for his pub group, but his active London restaurants are located in central and other areas.

Most recently, he’s been working on a brand new base located at 22 Bishopsgate. The 278-metre high skyscraper is home to five new Ramsay restaurants and bars – including Lucky Cat, Gordon Ramsay High, and Bread Street – as well as the Gordon Ramsay Academy for cooking and mixology classes.

This is his ‘biggest restaurant venture to date’, with £20million being invested. In the trailer for his Netflix show Being Gordon Ramsay, he said: “There is so much riding on this reputationally, financially. You have to be better than good. It scares the sh** out of me. This thing is going to take balls of steel.”

In the trailer, he also spoke about calling time on his career following the project, remarking: “I think I may retire after Bishopsgate.” The celebrity also addresses the strain of launching five businesses beneath one roof, declaring: “If 22 Bishopgate was to fail, I’m f*****.
