A helicopter crashed in the Hudson river in New York, killing a six, Associated Press reports. The horrific accident took place at 3.17pm local time today, with two adults and three children from Spain on board, as well as a pilot.
Rescue efforts are underway after the helicopter plummeted down near Pier 40. Emergency services flocked to the scene with vehicles on both sides of the river. A police helicopter is also at the incident.
In a statement on X, the NYPD said: “Due to a helicopter crash in the Hudson River, in the vicinity of the West Side Highway and Spring Street, expect emergency vehicles and traffic delays in the surrounding areas.”
