Holly Ramsay and Adam Peaty wedding chaos with Gordon in middle of fracas | Other | Sport

Dramatic scenes unfolded ahead of Adam Peaty’s wedding to Holly Ramsay as the bride found herself surrounded by photographers upon her arrival with father, Gordon. Following last year’s proposal, the three-time Olympic champion swimmer exchanged vows with Ramsay at Bath Abbey on Sunday, with a glittering guest list featuring David and Victoria Beckham, celebrity chef Marcus Wareing and TV presenter Dan Walker.

The couple’s wedding preparations have dominated headlines in recent weeks, with a bitter family rift on Peaty’s side resulting in him barring all but one relative from attending the ceremony. Given the enormous attention surrounding the wedding and the celebrity attendees, there was predictably a massive media presence outside the abbey as the bride made her entrance on Sunday, heavily protected by security personnel.

Whilst much of the press was positioned in a designated area at the front of the venue, there were some unseemly incidents when other paparazzi photographers reportedly sprinted from a rear entrance to intercept Holly and her father, clashing with bodyguards outside the abbey.

As security personnel formed a protective barrier around the Ramsays, a confrontation erupted in a narrow passageway beside the venue, with the bride and the Hell’s Kitchen star becoming embroiled in the fracas.

A source revealed to Hello! Magazine that the situation “descended into chaos”, with “Gordon and Holly, in her wedding dress, being jostled around just as she entered the church.”

Despite the altercation, the Ramsays managed to escape with security assistance and proceeded into the abbey.

This marks the latest dramatic twist in what has become a widely publicised wedding, featuring a family feud reportedly originating from a dispute over his mother, Caroline, being excluded from Ramsay’s hen party. This is said to have resulted in Peaty’s sister, Bethany, being the sole family member present at the ceremony, where she acted as a bridesmaid.

Speaking to the Daily Mail on the wedding morning, Caroline revealed: “I don’t think they understand how much they have hurt me; it’s as if they have cut my heart out.

“This is the first Christmas that I’ve not had my family together – my family is broken. Yes, I have my other grandchildren. Yes, I have my other children, but my family is split because of the goings on…because of the wedding.

“Me going would just cause even more of a storm and I don’t want to ruin his wedding day. I wanted to be there quietly to watch him get married, but that can’t happen now.

“I don’t know if they are too young or don’t value family as much as I have, but they don’t understand that family is the foundation to everything. Family is the foundation you can return to when things get rough. I’ve had that throughout my life.”
